The Road to Happiness and Fulfilment

About Serban

Engineering mind, human heart.

From rationed bread in Communist Romania to keynote stages across the country. Here is the story behind the work.

Have you ever worked hard to build the life you thought you wanted, then woke up one day and realized you still felt empty inside? I have.

My story started in Romania. I grew up during the Communist era, in a family that did not have much. One of my earliest memories is standing in line for rationed bread at six years old. That memory never left me. It taught me what it means to be hungry, not just for food, but for something more.

In 2005 I took my shot. I moved to the United States with two hundred dollars and a dream. I worked my way up in the semiconductor industry, from technician, to engineer, to program manager. I bought the house, earned the badge, built the 401k. I checked every box I thought I was supposed to check.

On the outside, it looked like I had made it. On the inside, I was falling apart.

The pressure kept building and the weight kept getting heavier, and one day I simply stopped caring. I started going through the motions, doing the bare minimum. I was quiet quitting, not just at work, but in life. And the worst part: no one could tell.

I knew that if I did not change something, I would lose more than my career. I would lose myself. That low point sent me searching, not just for change, but to change. I learned from voices like Les Brown, Lewis Howes, and Tom Bilyeu. But it was not their stories that turned me around. It was the small actions I took every day that slowly brought me back to life.

I rebuilt my energy. I reconnected with what actually mattered. Along the way I ran marathons, climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, and rebuilt a career I love, one that pays the bills and fills me with purpose.

That is why I speak. Not because I have all the answers, but because I know what it feels like to carry burnout alone and wonder if it will ever get better. I had to share what I learned so others would not stay stuck as long as I did.

Maybe you have asked the same quiet question I once did. Is there something more on the other side of all this pressure? Can you rebuild your energy, focus, and purpose without walking away from everything you have worked for? I believe the answer is yes. Not because it is easy, but because I have lived it.

If you have ever asked yourself that question, know that you are not alone, and it is never too late to start burning bright again.
